30th annual National Cancer Survivors Day®.

Cancer does not discriminate.

Cancer sees no color, race, or religion.

Cancer is a disease not bound by state and national borders or political party lines.

Cancer can affect anyone, and the chances are it has impacted your life or the life of someone you know.

CELEBRATE SURVIVORS

Sunday, June 4th, 2017 will mark the 30th annual National Cancer Survivors Day®.
According to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, there are more than 15.5 million people living with and beyond cancer in the U.S. today – and more than 32 million cancer survivors worldwide.
To celebrate the lives of those cancer survivors the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation deemed the 1st Sunday in June National Cancer Survivors Day. The organization would like to use the annual event primarily as a Celebration of Life, held to acknowledge cancer survivors in our communities and to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face because of their disease.
A cancer survivor, according to the National Cancer Institue, is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life, including those living with terminal diagnosis as well as family members, friends, and caretakers of those impacted by the disease. National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation spokesperson, Laura Shipp explained that “National Cancer Survivors Day® is an opportunity for cancer survivors – and those who support them – to come together and celebrate life, celebrate the fact that, for the majority of survivors, cancer isn’t the death sentence that it once was.”
Shipp goes on to say, “Over the last few decades, we’ve made great progress when it comes to cancer survival. And that’s absolutely something to celebrate. However, as many survivors will tell you, the effects of cancer don’t end when treatment does. Cancer survivors face ongoing, often long-lasting, hardships because of their disease. On National Cancer Survivors Day®, we want to raise awareness of the many challenges of cancer survivorship and advocate for further research, more resources, and increased public awareness to improve the lives of cancer survivors.
We at Wallace & Graham share many of the same concerns for cancer survivors. We have represented many individuals impacted by the ravages of various cancers. As a firm, we would like take the time to celebrate those that have been impacted by cancer and encourage everyone to take a few minutes on Sunday, June 4th, 2017, to honor the life of a cancer survivor.
